Starting October 7, 2025, Gujarat will celebrate “Vikas Saptah” (Week of Development) — a seven-day statewide event commemorating 24 years of the state’s continuous development journey since Narendra Modi first took office as Chief Minister in 2001.

The event will highlight Gujarat’s transformation across key sectors such as infrastructure, industry, healthcare, education, renewable energy, and digital governance, while showcasing the ongoing vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.

Celebrating 24 Years of Progress

Over the past two decades, Gujarat has emerged as one of India’s leading states in terms of economic growth, industrial investment, and public infrastructure. “Vikas Saptah” will celebrate this legacy through a series of exhibitions, public programs, foundation stone-laying ceremonies, and citizen interaction events.

According to state officials, the week-long celebration aims to highlight the milestones achieved under successive governments and recognize the contributions of citizens, entrepreneurs, and administrators in shaping Gujarat’s progress story.

Key Events Planned

Throughout the week, the government will organize various events under the “Vikas Saptah” banner:

  • Development Exhibitions: District-level exhibitions will showcase government schemes, success stories of entrepreneurs, and technological advancements in agriculture, education, and industry.
  • Public Inaugurations: Several infrastructure projects — including new roads, healthcare centers, and renewable energy plants — will be inaugurated.
  • Cultural & Youth Events: Local artists and youth groups will perform folk, cultural, and motivational programs centered on Gujarat’s development journey.
  • Digital Inclusion Drives: Campaigns promoting e-governance, digital payment systems, and online public services will be held to encourage citizen participation in digital India initiatives.

Development Highlights

Gujarat’s economic trajectory over the last two decades has made it a model for other states.
Key achievements include:

  • Becoming India’s top state for industrial investment and exports.
  • Pioneering renewable energy projects in solar and wind power.
  • Launching smart city and infrastructure upgrades across urban and rural regions.
  • Creating a robust ecosystem for startups and MSMEs.
  • Sustained focus on education, health, and women’s empowerment.

Voices from the State

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel noted that “Vikas Saptah” is not just a celebration but also a reflection of the people’s collective effort. He emphasized Gujarat’s vision of maintaining its leadership in innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth for the next decade.

Civic leaders and officials have urged citizens to participate in the week-long activities to understand how far Gujarat has come — and where it’s headed next.

A Vision for the Future

Beyond marking 24 years of progress, “Vikas Saptah” also sets the tone for Vision 2030, the state’s long-term roadmap focusing on green growth, global competitiveness, and technological empowerment.

As Gujarat continues to balance tradition with transformation, this event serves as a reminder that the spirit of “Vikas” (development) lies not just in infrastructure, but in the empowerment of people and communities.
