The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), the country’s advertising watchdog, has taken a major technological leap by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Intelligence (MI) tools to monitor and regulate advertisements. This move comes at a time when the advertising ecosystem—especially digital media—is expanding rapidly and becoming increasingly complex.

ASCI’s decision to integrate AI and MI aims to enhance the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of its ad monitoring process. Traditionally, ad verification and complaint handling were manual, which made it difficult to keep up with the explosion of online content.

With AI-based tracking systems, ASCI can now scan thousands of digital advertisements daily to identify potentially misleading claims, false endorsements, or undisclosed influencer promotions. The tools are designed to analyze text, visuals, and even tone to detect violations of ASCI’s advertising code.

Tackling Digital Challenges
